How do I use Product Hierarchy? Step 1

Categorise and organise products using the Product Hierarchy feature.

STEP ONE

1. Setting up your organisation's Product Hierarchy

Your organisation's Product Hierarchy is set up and managed by the Skyjed Administrator role via the Settings page in Skyjed.

Once the Product Hierarchy setup is complete, Product Owners within your organisation will have the ability to assign layers to each product.

They will then also be able to cascade necessary information to associated products as defined within the Product Hierarchy.

Administrators:

Go to: Settings > Product Hierarchy > Add Layer

To complete the set up of the Product Hierarchy:

 1. Name the Product Hierarchy Layer.

2. Select a Product Hierarchy Layer Colour to easily identify the layer type.

3. Select where the Layer will be located. In the example below, Category is the highest Layer, followed by Sub Category and Product.

4. Enter a description for the Product Hierarchy Layer as required.

5. The Product Layer is always the lowest layer and is Skyjed's default layer. You can rename and edit this layers details from Product and select a colour for easy identification.

6. To view and edit Product Hierarchy Layer details, select the meatball menu to the right

Some final notes for setting up and managing Product Hierarchy as an Administrator:

  • Only one Product Hierarchy can be defined per Skyjed instance.
  • You cannot delete Product Hierarchy Layers if Products have used those layers for information sharing.
  • When products use the Product Hierarchy Layer they will need to be part of the same Portfolio.
  • For example, a product called Motor Insurance in the Insurance Portfolio, cannot have a Sub Category Product or Product associated to it from a different Portfolio such as Retail Banking or Investments.
  • However a Category product called Motor Insurance, can be associated with a Sub Category product called Limited Motor which can then be associated with a Product called Fire & Theft Motor Insurance all of which are part of the Insurance Portfolio.

Congratulations!

You've set up your organisation's Product Hierarchy layers.
